Behind the gates of a 4,000-square-foot home with an in-ground pool, a young girl was living a nightmare. While the world saw a perfect family with kids in private schools, the reality was a household fueled by alcoholism, neglect, and physical abuse. By age eight, she was essentially a parent to her younger siblings; by twelve, she was a victim of grooming; and by fourteen, she faced a horrific betrayal of trust that left her spirit fractured.

Seeking the love she lacked at home, she became a wife and mother at just sixteen. By seventeen, she had two children in diapers and a marriage under the crushing weight of "real world" stress. When that marriage ended, she found herself a single mother, fighting to rebuild her life from scratch while working her way up from entry-level positions.
Just as life stabilized, she faced a new enemy: a deadly form of cervical cancer. The diagnosis forced a radical surgery and a hard realization: she was not truly living. She has always been in survival mode. It was in this moment of vulnerability that she chose to stop letting others dictate her worth, pull her big girl pants up, and decide to truly live for her, and her family.

Now a community leader, business owner, and Board President for a local non-profit, she uses her story to prove that your past does not define your potential. She is living proof that if you can survive "that," you can definitely do "this."
